Thailand's annual Loi Kratong festival, believed to have originated in Sukothai (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loi_Krathong), takes place on all major beaches in Phuket, however since the building of Rawai's Sea Wall the locals prefer to float their 'kratongs' at Nai Harn Lake. This is good news as it reduces the environmental impact created by the festival.
